Here’s one of the deep questions 🙈 @mrs.audrey.h reflected on during the amazing event organized by larger.world. Immense “Thank you” to Bistra Kumbaroska for inviting @diaspora.creatives ✨🫶🏾.
Before coming back to the question, let’s emphasize how honored Audrey was to share the panel of the fishbowl discussion with amazing people ✨✨who provided touching stories and valuable insights ✨✨✨. Gabriella Chihan Stanley from vrisch, Persson Perry Baumgartinger, Mag. Dr. from TransComm - Büro für transformative Kommunikation and @Natasa Katalina, the amazing artist hosting the “Gen Z” exhibition in the gallery where the discussion was held. Another highlight of the event was the “belonging net” 🥅 that we all created under the guidance of Josefine Schulze from WOMENTOR to kick-off the event and “break the ice 🧊 ” . Each of their experiences and personalities were unique and necessary for creating impactful memories 🥹✨.
So can we belong without othering❔Answering this raises the question of why are we seeking to belong? Usually it comes from fear 😨 , anger 😠, experiences where we feel the need to convene in spaces we can feel empowered, supported, heard, not “othered” 🤍. If there is one thing all of us agreed on, it is that nothing is black or white ☯️. So answering this question is surely not straightforward.
As a community builder through Diaspora Creatives, the answer could be ‘probably not’ but it is critical not to forget the intent behind this search to belong 🤍✨. In instances where the need arises, diaspora people for example, need to reconvene in spaces, communities where they are seen as individuals, human; and not as IMMIGRANTS, OUTSIDERS, with approaches full of STEREOTYPES, BIASES 🛑. They simply need to belong. Diaspora Creatives‘ work aim to provide such possibilities for all creatives of the diaspora in the forms of narratives, access to opportunities and spaces to belong and thrives rightfully and with equal chances 💎.

I had the chance to meet inspiring entrepreneurs who are passionate about taking African food products to new heights. 🚀 Despite the common challenge of **access to funding**, we all recognized another key issue—**the need for stronger support within Diaspora communities**. 💡

✨All guests were invited to share their views, exchange of experiences on the importance of community for growth and development, especially for creatives and diaspora members, through The Networking Games Cards, created by Diaspora Creatives and ADYFE. For business owners, project holders, creatives and diaspora members in general, this event served as a channel for self-promotion, awareness raising on initiatives and projects, creation of new connections that will grow beyond our event and a safe space to support growth and visions.
